Caring individuals help us provide food to thousands of neighbors. Whether you have a single morning or a standing weekly shift, your time makes a direct difference.

However much time you have, there's a meaningful way to help.

Groups

Businesses, families, service clubs, faith groups and teams are welcome. Group volunteer opportunities require a minimum 3 - hour commitment. Tell us about your group by completing our Interest Form.

Student Community Service Hours

Need community service hours? Students ages 14 – 17 are invited to volunteer. Flexible shifts are available Monday – Friday between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. All volunteers under 18 must have a signed parent or guardian waiver before volunteering.

Individuals and Court Appointed Service (ages 18+)

Join us Monday – Friday to sort, pack and distribute food. A minimum commitment of 4 hours is required. Complete the EFB Volunteer Form to get started.

Health & nutrition

Volunteer with 
Food as Medicine

Support our team with programs that promote health and wellness across San Joaquin County:

  • Mobile Farmers Market: assist Nutrition Educators at one of our 80 sites offering fresh produce, cooking demos, and nutrition education.
  • Community Events: help at resource fairs, health clinics, produce distributions, school activities, and family events.
  • Food as Medicine: work directly with clients managing chronic illnesses through hands-on nutrition education. Ideal for students pursuing RD, health education, public health, or community nutrition careers - volunteers receive a certificate of completion.
  • Education Center Support: help with data entry, video production, and other program needs.
